Insider's Guide To The Hog Fest

We are thrilled that you are excited about the Hub City Hog Fest, a barbecue contest to benefit Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, SC. We like to keep things pretty simple — block off some streets in one of the Southeast's most rapidly developing downtown's, and then bring in the best competition BBQ teams, live music, and food trucks, and invite thousands of our closest friends for two days of fun, great food, and raise a good chunk of change for a terrific local organization.

At the same time, there are some tips that will help you enjoy the Hog Fest to the fullest. With this info, all you need is a healthy appetite and a good attitude to have a great time.

  • Parking

Parking is getting tighter in Downtown Spartanburg all the time, but THERE ARE PLENTY OF OPTIONS. We recommend using one of the city's four downtown parking garages. They are FREE on nights and weekends.

  • Pet Policy

We love — LOVE — our dogs, and yours, too. However, with all the food, kids and beverages, we want to create a safe and predictable environment for everyone. So, in the tradition of our previous years, please leave your pups napping at home. But, please give them our best.

  • How to Score Competition- Quality Food

We will have plenty of great food to purchase from a quality lineup of food trucks all weekend. But we know that most people who go to a BBQ festival are eager to get their hands on some barbecue from the teams who are there to compete. And we don't blame you. So here's how to do it:

    • On Friday night, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., you can use your Hog Bucks to purchase chicken wings from the teams competing in the chicken wing contest. Hub City Hog Fest regulars would tell you that the range of quality of wings available on Friday night is spectacular.
    • On Saturday, get to the festival when it opens at noon if you want to get samples of the competition 'cue. The samples are only available until about 2 p.m. This really is a case of if you snooze, you lose!
